DARK SATELLITE release new single “This Is Not America”
(April, 2025)
Dark Satellite release cover of “This Is Not America” (David Bowie/Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays) as their new single.
“We recently stumbled upon the tune and felt it was reflecting quite accurately the overall vibe of the World we’re living in. Denis’ better half said: “You guys should cover this song right now”. So we did… gave it the “Dark Satellite” treatment, and had a great time doing it.
Album nr 2 is well under way, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy our version of “This Is Not America”, with the ever graceful backing vocals of Miss Penelope Antena, the suave horns of Mr. Olivier Bodson, the unmistakable shakerage of Mr. John J. Dooher, the steady groove of Mr. Wendel Jr the 3rd and the magical mixing touch of Mr. Mikko Raita (still basking in the glow of his amazing work on the Oscar-winning animation film “Flow”).
And for all those who agree This Is Not America:
spread the word /share the song.

Paul Curtiz embarks on the improbable journey of writing, recording and mixing a new music album with his musical accomplice Denis Moulin. “Liner Notes” is a gloriously self-deprecating inside story about two musicians taking on a project that’s probably too big for both of them. From early enthusiasm to long periods of procrastination and endless tweaking to its eventual completion, Paul Curtiz takes us along for the ride, as they stoically navigate the muddy waters of what’s left of the music industry in the 21st century.

Liners Notes — Recording “The Modern Illusion”
(excerpt)
“When we were kids, listening to an album you had just spent a bunch of money on was a powerful ritual. We would listen to the whole record in a single sitting, holding the cover —but handling the record itself as if it were some precious artefact. We would read the lyrics and eagerly devour any tidbit of info we could find about the band, where the music was recorded, who played on it, who produced it (…) If we were lucky, there’d be proper “liner notes”, an actual essay about the record for which the label would hire some clever music journalist known for having a smidgen of a good rapport with the artistes and a fair talent for coming up with an engaging review of the opus at hand (…) I hope you enjoy this little peek behind the curtain. To say it is all rigorously authentic would be somewhat of a stretch. But even the parts I’ve —shall we say— “enhanced” are 100% based on real-life episodes and have mostly been adapted for comic relief. And, as a famous author wrote, “Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story”.
